Valley High School
In the Fall of 2014, I had the wonderful opportunity of completing my first semester of Clinical Practice at Valley High School, a continuation high school in the Escondido Union High School District. Since Valley is on a trimester grading schedule as well as has a credit recovery program, I was able to teach a full year's worth of United States History. This meant starting at the beginning foundations after the Revolution and finishing up at the Cold War. By being able to to prepare an entire academic year of lessons has given me a lot of great resources and activities for United States History. Valley also gave me the experience in differentiating lessons and activities for students of a variety of levels, including English Language Learners. I also had the pleasure in assisting an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class, which was a familiar place for me since I had been an AVID tutor in college. By having previous experience in the AVID, I was able to bring ideas to the AVID department for not only implementing the curriculum, but on the management of tutorial and AVID tutors to make the most efficient learning environment possible.
